Barcelona has signed goalkeeper Wojciech Szczęsny on a one-year deal to replace the injured Marc-André ter Stegen, bringing the Polish player out of retirement
Barcelona has reportedly signed free-agent goalkeeper Wojciech Szczęsny on a one-year deal, pending an official announcement. This move marks the return of the Polish international to professional football following his brief retirement from the sport. Szczęsny’s experience and skill set will provide valuable depth in the goalkeeper position for the Catalan club.
The 34-year-old former Arsenal, Juventus, and Roma player announced his retirement less than a month ago.
However, following an injury to Barcelona’s first-choice goalkeeper, Marc-André ter Stegen, Szczęsny agreed to come out of retirement.
Renowned soccer journalist Fabrizio Romano confirmed that the deal was reached to address the vacancy left by Ter Stegen, who suffered a ruptured patella tendon in his right knee during Barcelona’s recent La Liga match against Villareal
